GCW 2.19.09

Today I really appreciated the class. A college admissions counselor named Harvey Maison from CUNY came to speak to us about the colleges, college funds, scholarships basically most of the things that have to do with college. He explained the difference between a Community college and a 4 year college and the way the system works. He also got a little bit into the requirements of the CUNY colleges. Then later on we spoke about the difference between a grant and a scholarship and why you should want one of these. We discussed different questions that they would ask at an interview. Although we covered many things it has made it more difficult for me to choose what college i would want to go to and what career i would like to pursue. I'm also a bit concerned about the cost of the colleges that i want to go to so I'm considering CUNY colleges more.

GCW 2.18.09

Today I liked the class very much. I learned how to write my resume step by step, beginning with the correct way to write our name and address and ending with writing our skills and achievements. We also learned about the ten steps to internship success and professional words that we can use when writing an internship and when on an interview. Although, we have covered many things necessary for the future i am still a bit concerned about not having enough experience/ volunteer work to put on my resume and a bit worried about how my college essay is sounding.

GCW 2.17.09

Today I enjoyed the class very much. I actually got a chance to match up with the different careers that I could possibly be interested in and even began part of my college essay. At first I was kind of stuck with the whole writing an essay thing but once I began to write it all kind of began to flow. Although, I got pretty far with my essay I am still concerned about the way it sounds and what the colleges are looking for when reading these essays.

Today I think the class was very interesting. I got a chance to learn about different careers and about the different ways that you can approach your career. I got a chance to learn about important women who started off with nothing and worked their way up and the different traits that these women have that got them to where they are today. Although, I have learned about all these different things I am still a bit worried about what i would want my profession to be. I know i want to go to college but i don't know what career i would like to pursue because I'm intrigued by so many things. I really think that this program is helping me get my thoughts together and look deep into these different careers.
